Wegovy® is used for weight management in overweight or obese adults who also have health problems related to their weight.
Important Safety Information: Wegovy® (semaglutide) is used for adults with excess weight (BMI ≥27) who also have weight-related medical problems or obesity (BMI ≥30). Do not use Wegovy® if you or any of your family have ever had a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), if you have an endocrine system condition called Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2), or if you have had a serious allergic reaction to semaglutide or any of the ingredients in Wegovy®. Wegovy® is an injectable prescription medicine used with a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity that may help adults with obesity, or some adults with overweight who also have weight-related medical problems, to help them lose excess body weight.
Wegovy® works by mimicking the action of a natural hormone in the body called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1).
The most common side effects of Wegovy® may include: nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, stomach (abdomen) pain, headache, tiredness (fatigue), upset stomach, dizziness, feeling bloated, belching, low blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes, gas, stomach flu, heartburn, and runny nose or sore throat.
