What is Prozac® (fluoxetine)?
Prozac® (fluoxetine) is used to treat major depressive disorder, bulimia, obsessive-compulsive disorder and panic disorder.
How does Prozac® work?Prozac® blocks the reuptake of serotonin in the presynaptic serotonin neurons by blocking the reuptake transporter protein in the presynaptic terminal. These medicines work by increasing the levels of serotonin in the brain.
